It is based on a dress from: Challamel, Augustin, Frances Cashel Hoey, and John Lillie, 'The history of fashion in France; or, The dress of women from the Gallo Roman period to the present time'. London: Low, Marston, Searle, & Rivington. 1882. The dress is six inches tall, stitched
